About Us

Beyt Dwarka also known as Shankhodhar, is an island located 2 Kms from Okha reachable by ferry and in future by iconic sea bridge .

Mythology : Beyt Dwarka was the location of Lord Shri Krishna’s residential Palace. The Island is considered to be the place where Krishan got a gift(Beyt) from his childhood friend Sudama. Beyt Dwarka is also mentioned as Antardvip in Mahabharata.

History : Beyt Dwarka was a part of Gaikwad Kingdom who only lost it once in the 1857 revolt to the Vaghers but then, got it back from them. Several artifacts dating back to Harappan age and Mauryan empire have been unearthed at Beyt Dwarka. Several Shipwrecks around Beyt Dwarka points towards trade relation with Roman Empire.

Geography : Beyt Dwarka is one of the best Island not only of India but also of world with its stunning beach, mangroves, marine lives and much more.

HOW TO REACH

By Air Porbandar (95 km) and Jamnagar (145 km) are the closest airports to Beyt Dwarka. Jamnagar Airport and Porbandar Airport are well-connected to major cities of India.

Nearest Railway Station is Okha. Distance from Okha railway station to Okha Jetty is approx ½ km. From Okha Jetty take a ride for 15 minutes in a public ferry to reach Beyt Dwarka.

To visit Beyt Dwarka the trip is divided into two parts i.e., From Dwarka to Okha by buses, Taxis, or personal vehicles and the distance is around 32km. After reaching Okha there is just a distance of approx 2km to Bet Dwarka by Ferry. This is to be done by Small Boats or Ferries (Public Boats).
